Connect Claude to Charterd

Ask Claude about your Planning jobs, enquiries, bookings, customers and suppliers, and let it make the changes you allow, straight from a chat.

Opens claude.ai with Charterd’s details filled in. Nothing is added until you confirm it there.

On Claude Team or Enterprise? There, an owner adds custom connectors for the whole organisation. Owners: add Charterd for your organisation (opens claude.ai in a new tab), then each person connects with their own Charterd login.

The button fills these in for you. Claude shows a notice that they came from a link: check the URL is exactly this one before you select Add.

Connect in three steps

Have your Charterd login to hand. If you’re signed out of Claude, it asks you to sign in first.

  1. Add the connector

    Select Add Charterd to Claude. In the Add custom connector form, check the name and URL, keep any sign-in settings Claude suggests, and select Add.

  2. Sign in to Charterd

    Claude sends you to Charterd. If it doesn’t, select Connect next to Charterd in Customize → Connectors. Sign in, choose the workspace, tick what Claude may do and select Approve. You’re then taken back to Claude.

  3. Ask about your work

    In a chat, select +, then Connectors, and check Charterd is switched on. Then ask Claude anything about your bookings and jobs.

What Claude can do

You decide when you approve the connection on Charterd. Reading is always included. Each kind of change stays off unless you tick it.

  • Read your workspace Always included

    Planning jobs, enquiries, quotes, bookings, the calendar, customer accounts and suppliers in the workspace you choose.

  • Add and update Planning jobs Off until you tick it

    Create Planning jobs and change their details and movements. Planning never emails customers or suppliers.

  • Change records Off until you tick it

    Enquiries, quotes, bookings, accounts and suppliers. Nobody outside the business is contacted.

  • Contact customers and suppliers Off until you tick it

    Each email is shown to you first and sent only after you say yes in the chat.

  • Bookings, cancellations and invoices Off until you tick it

    Each one is confirmed by you on a Charterd page before it happens.

  • Claude can’t delete anything, refund money, or change your settings, users or billing.
  • Emails use Charterd’s own templates and go only to the customer or supplier on the record.
  • By default each connection can send up to 25 emails and make 10 booking, cancellation or invoice actions a day. Admins can change these limits.
  • See or disconnect connected apps at any time in Charterd, under Settings → Connected apps.

What you need

Connecting Claude is part of Charterd Pro, and works with every Claude plan.

In Charterd

  • A workspace on Pro or Enterprise. The free Pro trial includes it too.
  • Your own staff login for that workspace. Customer and supplier logins can’t connect.

In Claude

  • Any Claude plan. The Free plan allows one custom connector.
  • On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds Charterd for the organisation first. Each person then selects Connect next to it in Customize → Connectors.

Try asking

Write as you would to a colleague. Claude finds the records and tells you what it found.

  • What’s outstanding in Planning?
  • Which jobs still need a supplier?
  • What have we got in the calendar next week?
  • Show me the enquiries and bookings for Hillside Academy.
  • Which enquiries are still open?
  • Add a Planning job for a 53-seat coach from Leeds to York on 14 March, returning the same evening.Needs “Add and update Planning jobs”

Add Charterd once and use it wherever you use Claude.

Claude desktop and mobile apps

Connectors belong to your Claude account, so once Charterd is added on claude.ai it’s also in the Claude desktop and mobile apps you sign in to.

Claude Code

Add Charterd from your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http charterd https://mcp.charterd.net/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code to sign in to Charterd. Add --scope user to the command to use it in every project.

If something doesn’t work

The Add custom connector form opened empty

The link lost its details on the way. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, select Add custom connector, name it Charterd and paste https://mcp.charterd.net/mcp.

Claude won’t let me add a custom connector

On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds custom connectors for everyone, so send them this page: the owners’ link near the top adds Charterd for the whole organisation. On the Free plan you can have one custom connector, so remove any other one first.

I can’t choose my workspace on Charterd’s page

Only workspaces on a plan that includes connecting Claude can be chosen. The others are listed with the plan they need, and an admin can upgrade in Settings → Billing. You’ll only see workspaces where you have a staff login.

Claude says the workspace’s plan doesn’t include this

The workspace has moved to a plan without the connector, for example when a trial ends. Your connection is kept, and it works again as soon as the workspace is on Pro or Enterprise.

Claude can look things up but won’t make a change

That kind of change wasn’t ticked when you connected, so Claude doesn’t have the tools for it. Disconnect Charterd in Claude’s connector settings, connect again and tick it on Charterd’s page.
